This past Saturday, we celebrated Emma's first birthday with family and friends. It was a really great time and although the couple of weeks leading up to it were stressful and frustrating, it turned out better than I could have planned. :)
We had over 30 people show up and everything moved right along very well, I thought. Everyone mingled for a while and then we played a trivia game that I made up to see who knew the most about Emma's first year of life. Then we had pizza and food, after that we opened gifts, and then we finished it all up by having cake. I had little gift bags for the kids so they spent some time outside blowing bubbles and I also had a coloring activity for them ... I think they were fairly occupied and had some fun, I hope. :)
Emma LOVED her cake, and she ate a TON of it. My sister-in-law made her a huge cupcake just for her to eat. My cake maker backed out on me, so I ended up making Emma's cake myself. There was some confusion as to what my cake actually was. It was supposed to be a sunshine, but it kind of looked like a head that had been electrocuted I'm told. *sigh* Emma dug right into her cake and loved it when we all sang happy birthday. It was a really fun time and I wouldn't have changed a thing about it. :)
